Looking to expand your food business with a mobile trailer that checks all the boxes for compliance, style, and functionality? Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at a custom 250W food trailer we built for a client in Australia. This post walks you through the technical details, design choices, and Australian-specific standards we followed during the build.
The trailer was built with compact dimensions of 250cm (L) × 200cm (W) × 230cm (H). Despite its modest size, it packs in a fully functional kitchen, electrical setup, and selling station.
We used fiberglass for the body to ensure:
Lightweight towing
Long-lasting durability
Resistance to rust and weather
This material is especially ideal for outdoor food vendors who operate year-round.
This project was designed specifically for Australian roads and regulations. That meant integrating components like:
Australian-standard axle
White steel wheel hubs with brakes
4 jacks for stabilization
Marker lights for visibility
Rear-mounted license plate holder and light
Compliance with Australian Vehicle Standards ensures safe, legal, and hassle-free operation throughout the country.
“We wanted a ready-to-go trailer that fits Aussie standards—and they delivered exactly that.”
First impressions matter. Our client chose a bold, branded look:
RAL 3001 Signal Red for both ends
RAL 3014 Antique Pink for the center
This not only grabs attention but also adds a vintage yet professional aesthetic—perfect for a mobile café or dessert trailer.
We installed a 2-meter-long service window on one side of the trailer. To preserve structural stability, 25cm panels were left on both ends of the opening. A fold-down counter allows the vendor to serve customers easily and store the surface when not in use.
This layout offers:
Fast service speed
Protection against weather
Sleek appearance when closed
Australia has strict electrical standards—and we made sure to meet them all.
10 Australian-standard wall sockets
32A external power inlet (location per blueprint)
Electrical control box for safe load management
Embedded wiring—no exposed cables
LED tube lighting inside
This setup allows vendors to plug in everything from fridges to espresso machines without safety concerns.
Inside the trailer, space was used wisely to accommodate food prep and service needs. Features include:
Stainless steel workbenches
Under-bench storage cabinets
Double sink with hot/cold water tap
Extra 30×35×20cm sink with custom lid
Cash drawer built into the counter
Everything was installed with hygiene, convenience, and workflow in mind.
To comply with road safety and visibility requirements, the trailer includes:
Marker lights around the body
Rear license plate light and holder
These details are essential for nighttime operation and roadside visibility—especially during long-distance tows.
This 250W custom food trailer shows what’s possible when local compliance, thoughtful design, and customer needs come together. Whether you're launching a mobile café or adding a food trailer to your business, building with the right standards and vision makes a big difference.
